East Wemyss

Former coalmining village in Fife unitary authority, Scotland, situated on the Firth of Forth; population (2001) 1,840. Wemyss Castle, also known as Macduff's Castle, is believed to have been a stronghold of the throne of Fife.

Mary Queen of Scots is said to have first met Lord Darnley here in 1565, five months before their marriage.
