Holy Saturday

In the Christian church, the Saturday of Holy Week and the day before Easter Sunday. Many churches keep an Easter prayer vigil (watch) that lasts all day. Members of the congregation take it in turns to pray. On the evening of Holy Saturday, a service may be held, and just before midnight the paschal (Easter) candle is lit. The new light is carried, in procession, into the church to celebrate the Resurrection, Jesus' triumph over death.
