Uinta Mountains  The US state of Utah has a dramatic landscape, with a large mountain range – the Uinta Mountains – and many gorges and canyons. Wind and water have shaped landforms such as this overhang in the Paria Plateau sand hills. | Range in northeast Utah and southwest Wyoming. Several peaks rise to over 4,000 m/13,123 ft, the highest being King's Peak which reaches 4,123 m/13,528 ft. The Uintas are notable as one of the few ranges comprising the Rocky Mountains which run east–west rather than north–south. The Green River cuts through the eastern end of the range in Flaming Gorge and Ladore Canyons, both part of national recreation areas. |
