Eastleigh| Town in Hampshire, England, 8 km/5 mi north of Southampton; population (2001) 24,100. The Ford Motor Company has a large commercial-vehicle plant on the Eastleigh–Southampton boundary. Other industries include cable manufacture, light engineering, and the production of pharmaceuticals and confectionery. On the outskirts of the town lies Southampton (Eastleigh) Airport, which has regular services to the Channel Islands. |
