Eastman, George (1854–1932)US entrepreneur and inventor who founded the Eastman Kodak photographic company in 1892. He patented flexible film in 1884, invented the Kodak box camera in 1888, and introduced daylight-loading film in 1892. By 1900 his company was selling a pocket camera for as little as one dollar.

| Saturday's undisputed world middleweight championship fight between champion Bernard Hopkins and Howard Eastman did not leave spectators standing and screaming in appreciation. Eastman Chemical said that its previously announced North American polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant, and a purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant, will be built at Carolina Eastman Division, near Columbia, SC. Lorraine, senior vice president and chief financial officer, announced that the Board of Directors of Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE: EMN) has approved the repurchase of up to $300 million of Eastman common stock, effective immediately. |
