Eastwood

Town in Nottinghamshire, England, 14 km/9 mi northwest of Nottingham; population (2001) 12,700. Formerly a coalmining town, Eastwood was the birthplace of the novelist and poet D H Lawrence; a museum dedicated to the writer was opened here in 1976.
