    0.03 sec.

Eastwood, Eric (1910-1981)

British electronics engineer. He made major contributions to the development of radar for both military and civilian purposes. With the aid of the Marconi experimental station at Bushey Hill, Essex, he applied radar methods to the study of various meteorological phenomena (such as the auroras) and carried out extensive investigations into the flight behaviour of birds and migration; his book Radar Ornithology was published in 1967.

Eastwood studied at Manchester University and Cambridge before entering the Signals branch of the Royal Air Force during World War II, and becoming involved with the solution of technical problems concerning radar. He worked at the Marconi Research Laboratory 1948-62 and ended his career as director of research for General Electric. At Marconi, Eastwood concentrated on telecommunications, radar, and applied physics.
