Easy Rider

Road film made in the USA in 1969, directed by Dennis Hopper and written by Hopper and US actor Peter Fonda. Two California hippies (Fonda and Hopper) take a trip on motorcycles through reactionary America to New Orleans, consuming drugs on the way.

The downbeat ending did nothing to spoil the film's enormous success at the box office, a significant factor in Hollywood's subsequent courting of the youth audience. The film also features Jack Nicholson as a drunken lawyer.
