Eatonton

Town and administrative headquarters of Putnam County, north-central Georgia; population (2000) 6,800. It is located 105 km/65 mi east-southeast of Atlanta. Writers Joel Chandler Harris (1848) and Alice Walker (1944) were both born in this agricultural and lumbering centre.

Born in 1944, in Eatonton, Georgia, Alice Malsenior was the youngest of Willie Lee and Minnie Tallulah Grant Walker's eight children, in a family of sharecroppers.
Haband, founded in 1925 by the Habernickel family, is headquartered in Oakland, New Jersey and will continue to operate at its current locations including its Distribution Center in Eatonton, Georgia, its Call Center in Athens Georgia and its mail processing center in Peckville, PA.
