Eberl, Anton (1765–1807)

Austrian pianist and composer. He was a friend and possibly a pupil of Mozart, toured as a pianist in Germany with Mozart's widow, and from 1796 to 1800 was Kapellmeister in St Petersburg.

Works

operas La Marchande des modes (1787), Die Königen der schwarzen Inseln (1801), etc.; melodrama Pyramus und Thisbe (1794); symphonies; piano concertos; chamber music; sonatas, variations, etc. for piano; songs. Much of his music was mistakenly ascribed to Mozart.
