Eboli

Town in Campania region, southern Italy, 25 km/15 mi southeast of Salerno; population (1993 est) 34,500. It has an ancient castle and fine churches, and south of the town, near the River Sele, are the ruins of the ancient Eburi. The town suffered considerable damage during the Allied landings at Salerno in 1943.
