Echo et Narcisse

Opera by Christoph Willibald von Gluck (libretto by L T de Tschudy), first produced at the Paris Opéra, France, on 24 September 1779. The story tells how Echo is in despair when Narcissus prefers his own reflection to her. She dies from grief, but when Narcissus recovers his senses she is restored to life.
