Eda-Pierre, Christiane (1932– )

French soprano. She studied at the Paris Conservatory and made her debut at Nice, in 1958, as Bizet's Leila. She sang Lakmé at the Paris Opéra-Comique in 1961 and Fatima in Les Indes Galantes at the Opéra in 1962 (other roles there have included Lucia di Lammermoor, Constanze, and the Angel in the 1983 first performance of Messiaen's St François d'Assise). She appeared at the New York Metropolitan Opera House from 1976 as Mozart's Countess (with the Opéra), Gilda, and Antonia. She was appointed professor at the Paris Conservatory in 1977.
