Edelmann, Otto (1917– )

Austrian bass-baritone. He studied at the Vienna State Academy of Music. His career was interrupted by World War II, but in 1947 he joined the Vienna Staatsoper, and in 1951 sang at Bayreuth, as Sachs; in 1954 he appeared at the New York Metropolitan Opera House in the same role. He appeared at Salzburg in 1960 as Ochs. Other roles include Leporello, Amfortas, Gurnemanz, and Dulcamara.
