Edelstein, David Norton

Edelstein, David Norton (1910–2000)

US judge. He was appointed a US district judge for the Southern District of New York in 1951 and was chief judge 1971–80. He issued important rulings on antitrust cases and was active in professional organizations and on judicial blue-ribbon committees.

He was born in New York City and graduated from Fordham University and Law School, New York. He worked as a government attorney before being appointed a US district judge. He also served on the boards of various social service agencies.
