Eden

River in Cumbria, northwest England; length 104 km/65 mi. From its source in the Pennines, it flows northwest through Kirkby Stephen, Appleby, and Carlisle before forming a wide estuary and entering the Solway Firth at Rockcliffe, northwest of Carlisle.

Eden

Town in Rockingham County, north North Carolina; population (1990) 15,200. It is located 42 km/26 mi north of Greensboro, at the Smith River–Dan River junction, to the south of the Virginia state line. It is an agricultural trade centre with a textile plant producing blankets and a brewery.
