Eder, Helmut (1916–2005)

Austrian composer. He studied in Stuttgart and with Carl Orff in Munich, Germany. He co-founded the electronic music school at Linz Conservatory in 1959 and was professor at the Salzburg Mozarteum from 1967. His music progressed towards electronics from neoclassicism and serialism.

Oedipus (1960), Der Kardinal (1965), Der Aufstand (1975), Georges Dandin (1979), Mozart in New York (1991).

Ballet

Moderner Traum (1957), Anamorphose (1963), Die Irrfahrten des Odysseus (1965).

Orchestral

five symphonies (1950–80), three violin concertos (1963, 1964, 1982), cello concerto (1981), concertino for classical orchestra (1984).

Chamber

string quartet (1948), clarinet quintet (1982).
