edge connector

In computing, an electrical connection formed by taking some of the metallic tracks on a printed circuit board to the edge of the board and using them to plug directly into a matching socket.

Edge connectors are often used to connect the computer's main circuit board, or motherboard, to the expansion boards that provide the computer with extra memory or other facilities.
