Edsall, John Tileston

Edsall, John Tileston (1902–2002)

US biochemist. He made major contributions to studies of the physical chemistry of proteins, peptides, and amino acids, including red cell enzymes and proteins involved in blood coagulation, and later wrote on the history of biochemistry and molecular biology.

He was born in Philadelphia and spent his professional career at Harvard, achieving emeritus status. He received international acclaim as an author, editor, and adviser to scientific organizations.
