Hale

Suburb of Manchester, England, beside the River Bollin, 13 km/8 mi southwest of the city centre; population (2001) 15,300. A residential area close to the Cheshire border, Hale is part of Greater Manchester Metropolitan County.

Edward Everett Hale, addressing the 1907 Congress of Religious Liberals in Boston, prophesied that "as the 'United States' is one nation, the united world is to be one empire of the living God.
When I was in grade school, we ere frequently treated to patriotic assembly programs in which we were shown short films, including a film version of the classic Edward Everett Hale short story, "The Man without a Country.
Whenever I think of McVeigh I am reminded of the short story, ``The Man Without a Country,'' published by Edward Everett Hale in 1863.
