Einbeck

Town in Lower Saxony, Germany, 64 km/40 mi south of Hannover; population (2005 est) 27,800. Carpet manufacture and brewing are the town's main industries. Einbeck was a member of the Hanseatic League trade federation, and was the seat of the princes of Grubenhagen. The town has medieval walls and watchtowers and a number of historic buildings.

Einbeck was already known in the 14th century for its beer.
