Her team found that the X rays peaked at an energy of 10,000 electronvolts. Gillow's team, funded by the Department of Energy Office of Science, uses "soft" X-rays (up to 800 electronvolts, a relatively small amount of energy) to study the chemical structure of organic compounds. Mass and energy are equivalent, according to Einstein, and scientists have noticed that the energy scale associated with dark energy, about one-thousandth of an electronvolt, is approximately the same as the masses associated with the three known types of neutrinos. |
