Elkhart County

County in north Indiana; area 1,207 sq km/466 sq mi; population (1990) 156,200. Its administrative headquarters is Goshen. It borders Michigan to the north. The Elkhart and St Joseph rivers flow through the county. Largely agricultural, Elkhart County produces wheat, oats, vegetables, and timber. The towns of Elkhart and Goshen are manufacturing centres.
