Elkton

Town and administrative headquarters of Todd County, southwest Kentucky; population (1990) 1,800. It is located 29 km/18 mi east-southeast of Hopkinsville. The area grows grain, fruit, and tobacco, and has stone quarries and timber. The town has various agriculturally related manufactures.

Elkton

Town and administrative headquarters of Cecil County, northeast Maryland; population (1990) 9,100. It is situated on the Elk River, 31 km/19 mi southwest of Wilmington, Delaware. It is a commercial town with sand and gravel pits, and manufactures toys, fireworks, spark plugs, and radios. Elk Neck State Forest and the west terminus of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal are nearby on the river.

Until the 1940s Elkton was known as the destination of out-of-state couples who wished to marry quickly, and had a famous row of wedding chapels.

Elkton

Town in Rockingham County, west Virginia; population (1990) 1,900. It is situated on the south fork of the Shenandoah River, 21 km/13 mi east-southeast of Harrisonburg. It is home to a Coors beer bottling plant.
