Ellery, William (1727–1820)

American Revolutionary statesman. He was admitted to the bar in 1770 and served Rhode Island as a delegate to the Continental Congress. He signed the Declaration of Independence and was collector of the port of Newport.

He was born in Newport, Rhode Island.
