Ellis, Harvey (1852-1904)

US furniture designer. Originally an architect, he began to design furniture for Gustav Stickley's United Crafts shop in Syracuse, New York. In The Craftsman, he published brilliant designs for textiles and interiors, as well as furniture.

He was born in Rochester, New York. As an architect, he worked with Henry H Richardson on the design of the New York State Capitol in Albany. He seems to have been solely responsible for the Stickley workshop's production of ornamental inlaid furniture.
