Ellon

Town and former burgh in Aberdeenshire unitary authority, Scotland, on the River Ythan, 26 km/16 mi north of Aberdeen; population (2001) 8,750. It formerly belonged to Kinloss Abbey, and was once the capital of the old county of Buchan.
