Elmont

Community in Hempstead town, on west Long Island, Nassau County, southeast New York; population (1990) 28,600. It is located to the east of Cambria Heights in Queens, and 8 km/5 mi southwest of Garden City. Residential and commercial, it is the site of Belmont Park Race Track (1905).
