Elphinstone, William

Elphinstone, William (1431-1514)

English prelate and statesman. He was bishop of Aberdeen from 1483, and in 1494 was founder of King's College in Aberdeen, Scotland; work was completed 1506. Elphinstone helped to establish the printing press of Chepman and Millar in 1507. His chief work is the Brevarium Aberdonense (1509-10).
