Elstow

Village in Bedfordshire, England, 3 km/2 mi south of the centre of Bedford; population (2001) 2,130. The writer John Bunyan was born here in 1628, and was baptized in the church.

The nave and part of the chancel of Elstow church were originally part of the abbey church of a Benedictine nunnery, founded in 1059. The bell tower is now detached.
