Elstree

Village in Hertfordshire, England, 8 km/5 mi west of Barnet; population (2001) 4,800. Elstree is the residential area of Borehamwood, and is the site of extensive film and TV studios.

The first film studio in Elstree opened in 1914. The BBC's Elstree Centre now stands on the site of the original studio. Films made at Elstree include 2001: A Space Odyssey and Star Wars.
