EMACS

In computing, a heavyweight text editor used mainly by Unix hackers. The name is dervied from Editing Macros, but is humorously, and recursively, said to stand for EMACS Makes A Computer Slow. EMACS was written by Richard Stallman at the MIT AI Lab and is published as public-domain software, EMACS was created by the US Free Software Foundation.
