Even though both arise from the same embryologic origin, the supportive structures of semilunar valves and annulus are different. The presence of thymic and parathyroid tissue within a single capsule supports the idea that these two structures have a common embryologic origin. Melanocytes have their embryologic origin in the neural crest and, during fetal life, migrate to the skin and squamous mucosa through the peripheral nerves. |
