Emerson, Peter Henry

    0.04 sec.

Emerson, Peter Henry (1856-1936)

English landscape photographer. His aim was to produce uncontrived naturalistic images of the countryside. He believed in differential focusing, the idea that only part of the picture should be sharply focused. His first book, Life and Landscape on the Norfolk Broads, was produced in collaboration with the painter T F Goodall 1886.

His theories were set out in Naturalistic Photography 1889 but a year later he recanted and largely gave up photography.
