Emeryville

Town in Alameda County, north-central California; population (1990) 5,700. It is situated on San Francisco Bay, adjacent to Berkeley and Oakland. A waterfront community, it has had stockyards and a variety of heavy industries, and now also has research and biotechnology facilities and high-rise apartment buildings.
