Emin, Tracey

    0.04 sec.

Emin, Tracey (1963- )

British artist. Her provocative works, in a variety of media, focus predominantly on a disturbing sexual history and tend toward exhibitionism. As the ‘bad girl of British art’ she gained notoriety in 1999 when, as a finalist for the Turner Prize, she exhibited her stained, unmade bed, strewn with her soiled underwear and used condoms, at the Tate Gallery.

Emin studied fine art at Maidstone College of Art and went on to the Royal College of Art in London. Her first solo exhibition was in 1994 at White Cube gallery, London.
