Aurangzeb (or Aurungzebe) (1618–1707)

Mogul emperor of northern India from 1658. Third son of Shah Jahan, he made himself master of the court by a palace revolution. His reign was the most brilliant period of the Mogul dynasty, but his despotic tendencies and Muslim fanaticism aroused much opposition. His latter years were spent in war with the princes of Rajputana and the Marathas and Sikhs. His drive south into the Deccan overextended Mogul resources.

Kankwari is a historical structure where Emperor Aurangzeb imprisoned his brother named Dara Shikoh.
When threatened by the Mughals, the last Qutub Shahi King Abulhassan Tana Shah withdrew himself to the fort and fought a long and hard battle against a far more superior and larger army led by Emperor Aurangzeb himself.
He challenged the Mogul emperor Aurangzeb and was tried and beheaded for championing the cause of Hindus.
