Empire style

French decorative arts style prevalent during the rule of the emperor Napoleon Bonaparte (1804–14). A late form of neoclassicism, it featured motifs drawn from ancient Egyptian as well as Greek and Roman art. Dark woods and draperies were also frequently used. The influence of the style extended through Europe and North America.
