endotoxin

In biology, heat stable complex of protein and lipopolysaccharide that is produced following the death of certain bacteria. Endotoxins are typically produced by the Gram negative bacteria and can cause fever. They can also cause shock by rendering the walls of the blood vessels permeable so that fluid leaks into the tissues and blood pressure falls sharply.

Endotoxins are lipopolysaccharide components of the outer membranes of gram-negative bacteria.
An immune system underexposed to endotoxins may not be able to combat unknown invaders later on like allergens (allergy-causing molecules).
Ordinarily, the scientists note, eliminating endotoxins requires caustic chemicals or heating to 250[degrees] C for at least 30 minutes.
