Engel, Karl (1923- )

Swiss pianist. He studied in Bern and Paris with Bernhard Baumgartner and Cortot. A leading recitalist in the classical repertory since the early 1950s, he has accompanied singers in Lieder, including Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. He was appointed professor at the Hanover Hochschule in 1959.
