Siege of Enniskillen Castle, Ireland, February 1593. The castle was first built in the early 15th century by Hugh Maguire, and saw many battles during the Irish rebellions. It fell to the English in 1594 after an eight-day siege, and was remodelled in 1607 under William Cole (who had been granted the Maguire lands). It was again remodelled in the 18th century as the Castle Barracks.

Castle on the River Erne at Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Until the 18th century it stood on a small island separated from the town by a drawbridge. Little now remains of the 15th-century castle of the Maguires except the lower portion of the keep. The present castle dates from the early 17th century when it was probably built by William Cole who was fortifying the town. It is best known for its Water Gate which is thought to date from this period. The castle now houses the Fermanagh County Museum.
