Enns

River in Austria, a tributary of the Danube; length 255 km/158 mi. The Enns rises south of Radstadt, 56 km/35 mi southeast of Salzburg, and flows into the Danube near the town of Enns in Upper Austria. Its chief tributary is the Steier.

Enns

Town in the province of Upper Austria, situated 17 km/11 mi southeast of Linz, on the River Enns close to where it joins the Danube; population (2001) 10,600. A large hydroelectric plant supplies power to the steel mills at Linz. Enns was a prosperous commercial town in the Middle Ages.
