Entremont, Philippe (1934- )

French pianist and conductor. He studied with Marguerite Long and at the Paris Conservatory, and has appeared internationally since the early 1950s in a wide repertory (he won the Long-Thibaud Competition in Brussels in 1951). He made his US debut in New York, in 1953, and was musical director of the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra 1981-84. He led the Vienna Chamber Orchestra 1976-80, and the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra 1980-85. He was musical director at the Denver Symphony Orchestra 1987-89, and led the Orchestre Colonne, Paris, from 1988. He was appointed conductor of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in 1993.
