Tolstov to the Persian (Iranian) port of Enzeli (Pahlevi); the interception by the Aleksandrovskii Fort radio station, in May 1919, of the secret messages between the Staffs and the Naval Forces of General A. The main cities on both the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, including Mosul, Baghdad, Fallujah and Basra, and northern ports of Enzeli and Baku, were vital ground in halting any southern Turkish advance. Based on earlier intelligence, the staff drew the conclusion that the White Guards were preparing to sail to the Persian (Iranian) port of Enzeli (Pekhlevi). |
