Epstein-Barr virus infections were first clinically described over a century ago, and the causative agent was described nearly 40 years ago. then perhaps the virus would be more latent, such as in cytomegalovirus or Epstein-Barr virus infections. Epstein-Barr virus infections can cause serious complications in solid organ transplant patients, including the development of a malignant lymphoma, which can often be fatal. |
