Erckmann-Chatrian

Literary signature of two French writers who collaborated in their work: Emile Erckmann (1822–1899) and Louis Gratien Charles Alexandre Chatrian (1826–1890). Their novels, often describing life in Alsace, include L'Illustre Docteur Mathéus 1859, Histoire d'un conscrit de 1813 1864, Waterloo 1865, and Le Blocus 1867. They also wrote dramas, including Le Juif polonais 1869, L'Ami Fritz 1876, and Les Rantzau 1882.
