His feature films – El espíritu de la colmena/The Spirit of the Beehive (1973), El sur/The South (1983), and El sol del membrillo/The Quince Tree Sun (1992) – gained international attention for their elliptical style, self-conscious artifice, and thematic interest in the passage of time and human mortality. |
