Erickson, Milton Hyland (1901-1980)

US psychiatrist. He carried on research into hypnosis and taught at Wayne State University. In 1979, he went into private practice in Phoenix, Arizona. He founded the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and became the USA's best-known practitioner of hypnotherapy.

He was born in Aurum, Nevada. He conducted experiments in hypnosis at the University of Wisconsin, where he received his MD. He carried on his research at the Worcester State Hospital, Massachusetts, and the Wayne County General Hospital, Michigan.
