Escobedo, Bartolomeo (c. 1500-1563)

Spanish composer. He entered the Papal Chapel in Rome in 1536, and acted as the judge in a dispute between Vicentino and Lusitano in 1551. In 1554 he returned to Spain as maestro de capilla at Segovia. He wrote Masses, motets, Magnificats, Miserere, etc.
