Esham, Faith (1948– )

American soprano. She studied at Juilliard and made her debut at the New York City Opera in 1977, as Cherubino; she later returned in the soprano roles of Gilda, Manon, Musetta, and Cendrillon. Her European debut was at Nancy in 1980 as Nedda, and she appeared at Glyndebourne in 1981 as Cherubino. She sang Micaela in Francesco Rosi's 1984 film version of Carmen, and Marzelline at the New York Metropolitan Opera House in 1986. She appeared as Desdemona for the Welsh National Opera in 1990. Other roles include Pamina and Marguerite (City Opera), Zerlina (Washington, DC) and Antonia (Las Palmas). She also sang in concerts at the Mostly Mozart Festival, in New York.
